Seney Wildlife Refuge

The Seney National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of 95,212 acres of wildreness, swamps, islands, and lakes.  Animals abound and thrive within the safe haven of this incredible refuge. The Marshland Wildlife Drive is a self-guided auto tour. It is 7 miles long and is open from Mid-May to Mid-October. Enjoy driving through and viewing many wonderful sites, the handicapped accessible observation decks, and the scopes used to view wildlife that they offer.

Refuge History
The Seney Wildlife Refuge became a reality in 1935 with the objective to protect migratory birds and other local wildlife.  After years of restoration, placement of dykes, water control, roads, and ditches, the refuge boasts a healthy wildlife environment for a number of species. It's 7,000 acres of water, 26 pools and 95,212 acres has become a major harbor for nature and wildlife.
